Choosing a Good Yoga DVD for a Gift

A lot of people are thinking more seriously about health and fitness nowadays. But for many, there just isn’t enough money or time to afford a gym membership. For them, a yoga DVD is a, cheap effective means of trying out some poses in the comfort and convenience of their home. You can do it on your own schedule and it won’t cost you a fortunate. Yoga DVDs also make a great gift for someone you know who is interested in this activity. Here are some do’s and don’ts for choosing a good yoga DVD as a gift.

Do’s

Do make sure you ask for a gift receipt when buying a yoga DVD. That way the recipient can exchange it if they already have one like it, or if it doesn’t really suit their style. There’s no point spending good money on something that will just gather dust on the shelf.

Do get a yoga DVD that suited to the recipient’s age and abilities. You can find yoga DVDs that are designed for pregnant women, kids and seniors. If you give them something targeted especially to them, it will more likely get some use and they’ll be happy that you were thinking of them so specifically.

Do include some accessories. Give a yoga DVD wrapped in a yoga mat. Including some yoga clothes can add some incentive to work out. Make sure you wrap it up nicely and top it with a bow. These touches show that you didn’t just quickly pick up a last minute gift without a lot of thought or consideration.

Don’ts

Don’t get a yoga DVD for a person who needs to lose a few pounds. You might think it’s a thoughtful, caring gift, but really it might insult the recipient. If the person hasn’t requested something like it or never even shown any interest in yoga, buying them a DVD could go horribly wrong.

Don’t get a DVD that features just one particular form of yoga. If the person you’re buying for doesn’t know the difference between bikram and hatha, such a DVD will probably be too complicated. Get a basic, popular yoga DVD that includes a few different yoga styles and so will offer a good overview of the activity.

Don’t purchase a complete DVD collection. The recipient might hate that particular instructor or style of yoga. If you want to spend more money on the recipient, it’s better to include some yoga equipment or books along with the yoga DVD.
